Think of a car you want to draw, or if you need more visual information, find a picture. Make sure you have a visual picture of that car in your head. Do not forget what it looks like.

Sketch the main parts of the car. Some cars will be more rectangular while others are more round. These shapes should be ordinary geometric shapes, such as cubes. It shouldn't have any detail yet. Make sure the proportions are correct. Draw lightly so that you can erase it more easily when you need to.

Add some details using simple shapes. This should still be geometric shapes like blocks or triangles, but this time they can be smaller things, like wheels, windows, headlights, etc.

Round off the shapes. Here, you can make the edges of the blocks round and more car-like. It should still be in the right proportion if they were right in the first place. Remember to draw lightly, as you still may need to erase things.

Add the small details. Now, you can draw in everything that you think is still missing from the picture. This can include the lines inside the headlights, the seats, or anything else.

Add shading to make your drawing more realistic. First, decide which way the light is coming from. Shade in the whole picture with your pencil, then use the eraser to bring out the highlights. Then, shade in the places that are even darker.

Color in your drawing. This is optional. You can also outline the picture in ink.

TipsOnce you are familiar with drawing cars, try drawing them from different perspectives.

Emphasize on the wheels. Detailed wheels and rims can give your car a better look.

Draw shadows below the car.

Don't try to get a detailed interior. It can make the whole picture messy.
